The Cactus Chronicle staff gave up their Saturday morning to come to an early morning workshop at the City of Tucson's Ward Six headquarters, to learn about journalism on July 20.

The students learned about essential reporting and story writing skills.

Adviser James Bourland showed his students several presentations and presented new ideas to his staff.

Staff members enjoyed the workshop. Plans for next year, new classroom procedures—and even talk of wedding crashing—were discussed.

Students were treated to bagels and Eegees for their morning workshop.

“After bombarding everyone with emails, texts and Facebook notifications, I’m glad we had such a great showing,” senior Editor in Chief Samantha Neville said.

Bourland and Neville were encouraged by the turnout, and hoped staffers received and retained the information.

“I’m hoping this will be the springboard for our newspaper,” Bourland said. “This staff has to take the newspaper online and beyond.”
